Please explain.

This is a short blog. Why is everything a celebrity does news? Why is someone feeding a baby elephant a headline? These are people like everyone else. They have the same color of blood, they cry , they do everything a normal person does except make boatloads of money to pretend. Isn’t that what acting is, pretending to be someone else? We seem to have a wonderment about it all. What do they eat, what are they wearing, where are they going and what are they doing? Who cares? Do I give a one thought to my neighbor and what they are having for lunch or what they might be wearing when they go out? No.Think about it, would anyone ever want to be a celebrity? I certainly would not want to be a fish in a fishbowl with my every move scrutinized. Maybe instead of being enamored with these people we should feel sorry for them and mind our own business.

Words

Recently, as I have mentioned, my husband bought me a Kindle Fire.Of course. you can get apps with that. I decided to get the words with friends app. I thought I would play with a stranger. The first person to play with me was coming up with words I have never heard of . I honestly looked them up to see if they were really legit words. I got frustrated with this. Someone told me you can get an app that actually will come up with words with your letters! I decided that I was never going to do well with this guy so I quit and let him win.

Next a friend asked me to play. It started out ok. Then again he started coming up with words I know he didn’t know. Really? I am wondering why this is fun In real scrabble you aren’t allowed to use dictionary s to help. Why do people not looking at this as cheating? I do. I actually try to come up with my own words. Now granted they are words like “dog”, but I do my own thinking.

So if anyone out there would like to help me figure this out leave me a comment, maybe I’m looking at this wrong…Image

Addiction to electronic toys

I decided today that I could possibly become addicted to electronic toys. I have always loved my laptop.I check my facebook  account and emails every hour to see if someone has sent me a message.Remember I am the one who does not like to talk on the phone, but let someone email me, now that is different…

Now I have a phone that also allows me to check my email, facebook and weather. I Never have to be without my ability to communicate with my peeps. I am guilty of telling everyone what I am doing and where I am at just like everyone else.

Now I have a Kindle Fire that my husband got me for my birthday. Oh the love! I can use it everywhere! The first day I got it I took it I took it in the bedroom that night . My husband laughed at me and suggested I was trying to be like my son. After he went trick or treating for the first time he insisted on sleeping with his candy. I just wanted to look at it before I went to sleep.

Here is a huge problem, I am now addicted to playing games on the Kindle. It is so fast and easy to carry around that I can play constantly. Today I tried playing Angry Birds. Oh my gosh, I couldn’t stop. After every time I tried to kill the pesky pigs I would tell myself that was it I would stop, Unfortunately, since I am not good at beaning the pigs I failed over and over again.I couldn’t quit then!

I don’t know if all these electronics are good. Its handy to have all the information in the universe at your fingertips but I think it is making us antisocial.I see people everywhere texting away. Now at first you think ,”they aren’t antisocial. Texting is communicating” Yes, ut these people are usually  with another person who is now being ignored. Maybe I’m wrong. I just get annoyed when I am talking with someone and they stop paying attention to me to answer their phone or check to see who is texting and then respond to the text!

Well, better go check my words with friends game, it might be my turn.!

Phones

Remember when we were young and as females loved to talk on the phone? I remember riding the bus home with my best friend and then walking home together. She lived across the street. As soon as I got in the door I called her. My grandmother would say, “you just left each other, why do you have to call her?” We talked constantly on the phone. These were the days when most houses had one phone and very little privacy.

Even when we got into fights we would write a note , walk across the road put it in the others mailbox and then call to say you had done that. It was ridiculous!.

Now in an age when everyone has their own phones, even small children, we don’t like to talk anymore. I personally hate to talk on the phone. Email me, face book me, or text me and I will answer immediately. If you call you will probably have to wait. What happened?

My daughter who is 13 talks on the phone to her best friend.Of course, she does not have a cell phone. I know, please don’t call the authorities, I’m just that way. My daughter who is 16 has a phone and usually texts 4000 times in a month but hardly ever talks to anyone? Is it that we are so busy now  we just don’t want to waste time with idle chit chat? I believe that is it for me. I just kind of want to know what someone wants. I don’t really want to talk for an hour. Wow, I seem anti social and my children will attest that I am anything but that. See me in person and I will talk to you all day.

Maybe it is just me, I see people talk on the phone all the time, in the car, in the store, in a restaurant, even when they should be paying attention to what they are doing.  I don’t understand what happened to me. Do you like to talk on the phone. I would love to take a poll but remember put it in writing….

Birthdays

Birthdays are funny things. They come and go with or without you. In the past I have been disappointed if I thought mine was not celebrated correctly, if it wasn’t made out to be a big deal. I am embarrassed by this. This year I finally have come to the realization that every birthday that you make it here with your faculties intact is a good one. Now thanks to the miracle of facebook people everywhere can wish you the best, making you feel very popular. If you have a birthday and your family remembers , it’s a good one.

In the end, birthdays are another day. They come and go. How you think about them is what should change. So on this day of days, Happy Birthday to me!

Winter

We really have not had winter. That’s ok. Really. I do not like driving in snow. It freaks me out so much that I don’t sleep at night if I have to drive the next day and snow is coming down. I think my husband thinks I am crazy. Wonder if you could get hypnotized so that you would no longer have these ridiculous fears?

The problem with this winter is rain. I am seriously tired of MUD! Trying to get to my barn is not a lot of fun.For those of you who have read my blogs before know my barn is at the bottom of the hill and I drive there. To get to the drive to the barn I have to drive across the yard. We drive in the same place so we have  kind of created a drive there. Now it is a big muddy rut. I drive around it. If you get too close and your tire goes in the rut you are stuck trying to drive in it. It sucks! I also hate the way my feet stick in the mud when I am walking into the barn.

O.K. enough complaining. I have only driven in snow once this year. (fingers crossed tightly).Hopefully, spring will be early. Then I can enjoy some sun and perhaps some rain!Image
